Happy National School Counselor's Week to GBR's Mrs. Kapfer! Thank you for all you do for the students and staff. We are so lucky to have you!

🌟 Exploring, Creating, and Learning! In our KGL class, afternoons are for Choice Time 🎨. From sentence building 📚 to word matching activities 🧩, and even building with Legos 🏗️, every activity is a step towards growth and fun-filled learning. Let's play our way to knowledge and discovery! 🌈 🚀

Mrs. Dodd's Begindergarten class had a very fun morning! BK started the morning off by reading a book about a Dog. They noticed that some of the letters on each page were in red and that they went in ABC order. Then they had a very special guest!! Mrs. Dodd's Dog, Duke!! Bk is learning all about the letter D, what a fun way to start their Day. Thanks for stopping by Duke!

The students in PLC have been working on a cool Creative Writing project! Each student worked on their narrative writing. Check out these two students' creative writing!

Check out what's for lunch on Monday!

The Beach Day festivities continue! Each class has the opportunity to play volleyball during the day but the fun part is lunch. We went full Beach Mode with a picnic of Hot Dogs and sitting on blankets & towels. Dreaming of warmer weather!

Mrs. Cassutt had a game day of UNO with her first-grade growing block students today. Uno is a great game to practice matching numbers and colors, as well as counting (those pesky draw 4 cards!). It is also a great way to get students to work on building their social skills by taking turns. We love getting to play games, especially when we get so sneak in some education!

Happy Beach Day from GBR!! We have been loving the nice weather this week and what better way to celebrate than some volleyball in the commons? PLC split up and played a game against each other. What a fun Brain Break!

Check out what's going on tomorrow February 2! Don't forget about Beach Day!

Mrs. Gulledge had a small group of First graders with her this morning. They worked on a daily Chit Chat and answered questions, filled in the blanks, and took turns going up to the board! The students worked on some math and ELA activities. What a fun & interactive way to learn!

Mr. Grotjohn's fifth graders are learning all about volume and estimation in math today! They discussed what measurement they would use when estimating the measurement used for a car's gas tank (liters vs. milliliters). They then examined their water bottles to see what is typically used to tell the volume their water bottle can hold! We love getting to see real-world connections as we learn new things. Great job Mr. Grotjohn!!

Don't forget about Beach Day, February 2!!

Things to know for February 1,2024, and beyond!!

Mrs. Zirpel's Fourth graders enjoyed some Art today with Mrs. Geist! Students were working on making foil-covered ornaments. The ornaments contained hidden shapes that were used to create concentric, radial designs. Students then used contrasting colors to highlight the positive and negative space in their ornaments. We cannot wait to see how these turn out!

Mrs. Budahl's 2nd-grade students had a lesson this morning about sinkholes led by Miss Hanson! The class has been learning about natural disasters experienced by different parts of the world, and today they focused on sinkholes. Some sinkholes occur in the ocean, and the class shared whether they would or wouldn't swim above a sinkhole. After the lesson, students had a Brain Break where they WENT BANANAS doing the 'Go Bananas' dance!"

Things to know for January 31, 2024

Mrs. Brua's first graders are working on time! With a partner, they are putting the clocks in order on their timeline from 7 o'clock to 6 o'clock. Time flies in first-grade!

Mrs. Wilson's 3rd-grade class worked on some reading stations this morning! Today's reading stations were a whirlwind of learning and fun. From diving into the depths of a thesaurus to enrich sentences with synonyms, to sharpening phonics skills and exploring the enchanting world of cursive writing - every moment was packed with growth and discovery! Keep soaring, young scholars!

We are thinking of warmer weather! GBR is having Beach Day on Friday, February 2nd!
