Dear Families,
Our Adopt an Ornament Tree is up and ready! If you and/or your family is interested in helping another family out this season, please visit our Tree located in the office. Please ring the bell at the front door and tell Rebecca or Liz you are here for the Adopt an Ornament Tree. If you select an ornament, please let Rebecca or Liz know your name and what number you chose. We just want to account for each number so they don’t get removed or misplaced by mistake.
The ornaments are all numbered and have gift suggestions on the back along with ages and whether the kids are male or female. If you take an ornament, please bring the gifts wrapped and labeled with age and gender to school along with the ornament by December 15. We will arrange with the families to pick up their gifts.

GBR hosted a Family Literacy Night on Tuesday, featuring Dr. Katie Anderson from Dakota State University. It was a great night of fun, pizza (courtesy of Ryan Hofer at Horace Mann), reading, and prizes! Two book fair gift certificates and one Kindle Fire kids edition were given away. Thanks to everyone who attended and to our Title I staff who put the event together!

October 23-27 is Red Ribbon Week at Gertie Belle Rogers.
Red Ribbon Week is an ideal way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against substance abuse. Show your personal commitment to a drug-free lifestyle through the symbol of Red Ribbon Week.

The 4th graders spent time learning about Hispanic Heritage Month by studying some influential Hispanic individuals and were able to show this at our recent showcase. We've also been learning about different components of energy and how they work together. Students and their families created roller coasters at home as part of this, and many of them worked just fine! Even if they didn't work, we still had fun seeing the creativity involved.
