Mrs. Zirpel's Fourth graders enjoyed some Art today with Mrs. Geist! Students were working on making foil-covered ornaments. The ornaments contained hidden shapes that were used to create concentric, radial designs. Students then used contrasting colors to highlight the positive and negative space in their ornaments. We cannot wait to see how these turn out!
Mrs. Budahl's 2nd-grade students had a lesson this morning about sinkholes led by Miss Hanson! The class has been learning about natural disasters experienced by different parts of the world, and today they focused on sinkholes. Some sinkholes occur in the ocean, and the class shared whether they would or wouldn't swim above a sinkhole. After the lesson, students had a Brain Break where they WENT BANANAS doing the 'Go Bananas' dance!"

Mrs. Brua's first graders are working on time! With a partner, they are putting the clocks in order on their timeline from 7 o'clock to 6 o'clock. Time flies in first-grade!
Mrs. Wilson's 3rd-grade class worked on some reading stations this morning! Today's reading stations were a whirlwind of learning and fun. From diving into the depths of a thesaurus to enrich sentences with synonyms, to sharpening phonics skills and exploring the enchanting world of cursive writing - every moment was packed with growth and discovery! Keep soaring, young scholars!
We are thinking of warmer weather! GBR is having Beach Day on Friday, February 2nd!

Mrs. Kapfer talked with Mrs. Fossum's kindergarten class about feelings and how they affect our bodies. When we feel worried, we might feel it in our tummies, but when we are happy, we feel it in our cheeks from smiling! The students in KF then got to pick colors that represent four emotions and where they might feel that in their body. What a great lesson on our emotions and how they affect our bodies!
Miss Hart shared some of her favorite books with her kindergarten students this morning! She shared with her students how she loved the story “Biscuit” so much that she named her dog after the puppy in the story! Miss Hart also shared memories she has with “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie,” “If You Take a Mouse to the Movies,” “Ferdinand,” and “Eat Your Peas, Louise.” Each book holds a special place in her heart. Now, she gets to share them with her students and help them gain a love for reading! What is your favorite book from your childhood?

Our amazing 5th graders in Mrs. Elias' class, have been busy little bees, crafting thank-you cards for their Junior Achievement leader, Liz Schiefen! 5E was able to express their gratitude for the valuable lessons and experiences they had gained from Liz as their JA leader. Becker/Stolp's Multiage class students worked on their ELA playlists this afternoon! The class was given the prompt "Should we make up snow days?" and are working on their opinions. Do you think we should make up snow days?
Miss Bormann's 2nd-grade class worked with their Junior Achievement leader, Thomas Gulledge, and did an activity on pizza order taking. We learned about ways people get paid to do different jobs. Thank you Junior Achievement for assisting our students in learning life skills!
