On October 9, 2025, the GBR Begindergarten through 2nd graders had a visit from the Mitchell Fire Department after their fire drill.
During this visit, the students learned about fire safety and the importance of smoke alarms. They also got to see a BIG fire truck!

The Caring Kernel Award is presented each month to students nominated by their teachers for going above and beyond. Recipients are recognized for their kindness at school or in the community, their true Kernel spirit, positive attitude, outstanding sportsmanship at school events, and their ability to overcome challenges at school or at home.

Our school is proud to partner with KORN Country 92.1, Q1073, and KORN News Radio for the annual Cozy Coats for Our Community project! We’re collecting gently used coats of all sizes throughout the month of October. Please make sure to empty pockets and wash the coats before donating them. Donations can be dropped off in the bin located in the GBR entrance.
Coats that meet needs in our own school community will be shared here, and any extras will be redistributed to other schools or donated to the Salvation Army, where they’ll be available free of charge to anyone in need.
