On behalf of the GBR PTA:
The April PTA meeting is scheduled for this Monday, April 24th at 6:00 pm in the GBR Commons. Free daycare and snacks will be provided. We need to nominate 1 person to run the PTA Board next year as President, as Amanda Nava will be stepping down. We have only had 1 person mention that they would help co-chair with another adult. If we have no volunteers on Monday, we will need to vote to dissolve the PTA. This would be an unfortunate loss of support to our teachers and school community. In a typical year, we raise over $10, 000 for projects, supplies for classrooms, playground equipment, field trips, etc. Please step up to help us save our PTA or help find a responsible & motivated person to be the President of this organization.
Below, you will find the responsibilities of the PTA President. If you have any questions, concerns or comments please feel free to ask one of the current PTA members or contact Mr. Gubbrud in the GBR office at 995-3091.
Section 1. The president shall
A. Preside at all meetings of this local PTA;
B. Serve as an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee;
C. Coordinate the work of the officers and committees of this local PTA to promote the
purposes;
D. Perform such other duties as may be provided for by these bylaws, prescribed by the
parliamentary authority, or directed by the board of directors or executive committee

Attention GBR Families!
We are still collecting County Fair stamps and Saver cards through Monday, April 17. The top 2 classes will win an 'Ice Cream Sundae' party sponsored by the PTA!

Check out these grades three and four Genius Hour projects! Awesome research and presentation! #GBR🏹

http://www2.heart.org/goto/GertieBelleRogersElementarySchool
This year, our families will soar to new heights with our Heart Hero Dragons! They will take our students on AMAZING adventures around the globe to learn about heart and brain health, meet kids with special hearts, and raise funds for the health of all hearts. Our students will feel good by doing good, knowing they made a difference for kids just like them!

We got to take in an FDC show choir tour performance this morning!
We are so fortunate to have a top notch crew like FDC willing to come and share with us.
From set up, to performance, to take down - an amazing production through and through. Hats off to Mr. McGraw and everyone involved!
Some FDC performers even got to "turn back the clock" with some PE parachute. It was also fun for staff to see past GBR learners! #GBR🏹

Today is Paraprofessional Appreciation Day!
We have such a great group of people in our building who support our teachers and learners daily. For many of our learners, one of our paraprofessionals is "their person" in the building. The ways in which they assist both teachers and students are countless, and the progress they make yearly with learners is astounding.
We couldn't do it without them! We are so glad they are a part of our team at Gertie Belle Rogers!

Attention Gertie Belle Rogers families!
It's yearbook ordering time!
This year, Mark's Photography has created a fantastic yearbook to try and capture some memories for our learners during the 2022-23 school year. You can order a yearbook online for 14.00 here:

First grade working on rule number 3 of The Energy Bus: No Bullies Allowed! We reviewed being the driver of our own bus, closing our bus doors to bullies and opening our doors to friends that help fuel our ride! #GBR🏹

Kylie Giblins Flat Stanley has been travelling the country. Here is what I received.
Stanley arrived safely in Fort Collins, Colorado! Here are some facts about Fort Collins:
-Fort Collins is home to Colorado State University.
-Fort Collins is near the Rocky Mountains and has the Poudre River running through it.
-The city is 5,000 feet above sea level.
-Fort Collins has over 300 days of sunshine.
-Fort Collins has over 20 hand painted pianos that sit around town for people to play.
-Fort Collins inspired the design of Main Street, USA at Disneyland and Disney World.
-Fort Collins is very bike friendly and the city has over 280 miles of bike trails, lanes and paths.
-Fort Collins has a 6.5 mile reservoir called Horsetooth Reservoir, where people love to boat, fish, kayak and swim.
-Fort Collins is 555 miles from Mitchell.
Even though we get a lot of sunny days here in Fort Collins, we also had a lot of snow! (You can see all of the snow in our backyard in one of the photos.) As we were ready to send Stanley back to Mitchell, he begged us to not mail him back to snowy and cold South Dakota. He knew that our family was headed to the beach for Spring Break!
Stanley was so well behaved on his stay with our family, that we agreed he could travel with us to the South. (I mean he didn’t take up much space in our luggage!) We folded him up and tucked him in a backpack and he flew on an airplane with us!
Stanley was lucky enough to visit several cities and beaches in Georgia and South Carolina.
Stanley took pictures at two of his favorite spots and they were both islands. The first was Tybee Island in Georgia. In this picture you can see the pier behind him. A pier is like a really long and large dock that extends out over the ocean. Stanley enjoyed walking out onto the pier and looking down at the ocean below. Stanley also loved his stop at the Isle of Palms in South Carolina. He liked looking at the many palm trees that were growing on this island! Stanley liked playing in the sand on the beach, eating pizza and riding in a golf cart around the small town!
