Becker/Stolp Multiage spent time this last quarter working on their Gainer Park project. They painted a bench, planted flowers, and cleaned up around the park. They presented their fundraised money to city council members and Kevin Nelson from Mitchell Park & Recreation Department at their pizza party celebration! They are excited to continue to work with the city on this park project next year. Way to Becker/Stolp Multiage for such a successful project!

Check out what's for lunch on Thursday, May 16th, our last day of school!

Yesterday, KGL walked to their Life Quest friend's house. They toured their house and had 3 fun stations of activities set up for KGL to complete. They got to plant seeds, played at a bubble and chalk station, and enjoyed a root beer float!

As we get closer to the last day of school, don't forget these important things!

Mrs. Zirpel's Fourth-grade class has been engaged in an exciting math project! They've been applying their geometry skills to design their very own unique playground. Not only that, but the students have also been brainstorming ways to ensure their playground is inclusive, accommodating children with diverse physical abilities. From sports facilities to sensory activities, handicap-accessible features, and more, their designs truly embody inclusivity. It's not just a math project; it's an opportunity for our students to explore accessibility for all children!

This morning, Miss Hart's Kindergarten class played a fun review game of Spin that High-Frequency Word! Each student spun the wheel to get their word. For every word that was spun, the students then had to use it in a sentence. What a fun way to practice what they learned this year!

Yesterday the GBR Begindergarten class went on their field trip to Dodd Farm!! These BK students had a blast learning all about life on the farm and meeting ducks, chicks, horses, and dogs! We hope these little ones had fun and learned a lot on the farm!

As we get closer to the last day of school, don't forget these important things!

Take a look at what's for lunch on Wednesday, May 15th!

To finish off the end of this school year, many GBR ELL learners and their families attended a special evening at the Mitchell Public Library. Throughout the school year, there was an ELL after-school program led by Mrs. Zirpel & Mrs. Cassutt.
Mrs. Zirpel and Mrs. Cassutt taught 14 Hispanic students from 10 families. They focused on basic vocabulary, writing, reading, grammar, and language.
Mrs. Adrian, GBR's ENL teacher, worked with students during the school day! She presented each learner with a certificate that celebrated their growth this year. All students grew in their English skills and some even tested out of the ELL program!
We ended the evening with ice cream sundaes, goodie baskets, books, and games for each learner to take home. Each student also gave their mothers some flowers and a card with a note to their moms in Spanish. It was a wonderful night celebrating so many milestones!

The GBR fifth-graders have had a busy day! This morning they went to Your Shop where they did a directed painting of an ostrich. They then enjoyed lunch and enjoy swimming at the Rec! What a fun day after their fifth-grade recognition last night!

Happy Mother's Day! We hope you are having a wonderful day. Take a look at the menu for Monday, May 13!

Mrs. Brua's first graders performed surgery to make contractions! They have been practicing how contractions can condense two words into a shorter word with the use of an apostrophe. They passed their contractionology exams to become contraction surgeons! We are happy to report all "patients" (words) made a full recovery!

This morning, the Kiwanis Club hosted breakfast for the GBR Caring Kernels of the 2023/2024 School Year. We are so proud of these upstanding students and showing true Kernel spirit!!

The Fifth Graders at GBR are teaming up with Mrs. Geist and painting the GBR Crosswalk!
