Taking a First Look at Draft Plans for a new MHS

Preliminary plans for the new Mitchell High School, currently under consideration. The new construction would connect to the current MCTEA and PAC facilities, across the street (Capital) from the current high school building.

On Monday, June 13, 2022, the school board and a number of interested community members took a first look at proposed plans for a new Mitchell High School.  Robin Miller, chief architect for the new building, and Mark Puetz of Puetz Design+Build, presented the plans for about 20 minutes, followed by about an hour of public comment and questions. Largely due to unprecedented construction cost increases within the last 8 months, the expense of such a building are outstripping the resources identified for the project.  Thus, as part of the ongoing plan, designers will be working on ways to value engineer the project and cut costs while district officials will consider other possible revenue sources.
