The summer lunch program was up and running today.

You're welcome, kindergarten parents. Your kids should sleep well tonight. They have a great time bowling, playing at the park and visiting a farm!!!

Camp Jira is in full swing! The Lions in Miss Jira's classroom are spending the day camping. Lots of fun activities will be happening all day including Mrs. H stopping by to read to the class. The best part is that they get to work inside their tents for the day. It's a good thing they can get off of the ground easier than some of the rest of us in the building.

For teacher appreciation week, we've been celebrating island-style with an entire luau theme. Today we had a tiki toss throwdown. The students loved seeing the staff having fun in the commons before school began.

Crayon collecting. Verizon is collecting used crayons which they will send to be recycled. If you do not need your children to bring their crayons home this summer, remind them to put them in the recycle box by the office door.

Don't forget about the Little Kernel Track Meet coming up on Friday the 10th!!

LOST & FOUND
We have collected A LOT of hoodies, jackets, hats and gloves. Even a pair of roller blades! What is left on May 17th will be donated to the MSD Caring Closet.

Today, Miss Kayser's class did presentations on animal habitats. There were some VERY cool displays and we all got to learn some fun facts too!

The May newsletter is ready for you. We sure are packing a lot into the last few weeks of school. It's a busy but fun time at Longfellow. There will be one more newsletter this summer to show off our final days of fun, learning and memories for the 2023-24 school year!

We appreciate our bus driver, Ms. Joyce, so very much! She gets our Lions to-and-from school safely each day. We don't know how much time you've spent on a bus with elementary school children after 3:30pm but, trust us, it takes a special person!! Thank you to all the wonderful bus drivers out there!!!!

Reminder that we have no school on Monday due to a teacher development day. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather! We look forward to seeing our lions on Tuesday the 16th!

YeeHaw! Let's get those bikes out!

Correction, Yearbook Orders are due April 18th! Sorry for the confusion.

Yearbook Order Forms Are Due Tomorrow, April 12th. The cost is only $12. Order forms were sent home with students but extra can be found in the office. Get yours now!

Now, more than ever, we MUST have students here on time every morning. Our 3rd-5th graders begin their statewide testing first thing in the morning. If they are not here when the class begins, they cannot enter the room until that testing period is complete and will have to make-up that test at a later time. That may not be difficult to schedule once but if this is happening every morning, it will have a major impact on your child. Please do not add that stress to their already challenging day. Set those alarms please and get them here on time.

Mr. Bruna sang The National Anthem before our basketball game and the students joined in. It was so heartwarming to hear these young voices singing along! https://youtube.com/shorts/KsfwjkHNXJQ?feature=share

Reading matters! Sawyer Stoebner joined us today as our teachers and students battled it out on the b-ball court. See what Sawyer has to say about the importance of reading and staying active.
